Meet Pink.
This beautiful tortoiseshell came in with a horrible laceration to her ear - essentially it had been torn away from her head, and the entire area was infected. The infection had spread into her ear, cheek, and jaw, causing swelling and discomfort. In addition, she was extremely anemic (6% pcv) - you can see how white her tongue was in the photos - and FeLV positive, but everyone agreed that she deserved a chance!
She visited Firehouse Animal Health Center, where Dr. Bryant cleaned out and around her infected ear as best she could and prescribed antibiotics, ear medication, ear cleaner, as well as high-calorie food and probiotics. It didn’t take long for Pink to feel better and begin eating enthusiastically, and at her next visit her pcv was highly improved. Her ear infection was resolved with regular ear flushings and medicated drops and the ear began to heal back into place without any surgical intervention required.
All that was left to deal with was her FeLV positive status - so we reached out to APA! and their FeLV+ cat program. Happily, she was accepted into the program and was transferred to them for more specialty care and so they could find her the perfect forever home!
Her total bill was $718.10.
