Meet Irina.

Irina and her siblings were surrendered to the shelter in bad shape - they were tiny bottle babies, but had been cared for incorrectly by a well-meaning individual who had fed them food meant for adult cats rather than proper kitten formula. Within 24 hours all three of Irina's siblings had passed away, two after showing severe neurological signs, and she was the only one remaining.

CKCF Board Member Ariana took her home to foster her, but the next day Irina also began refusing food and showing the same neurological signs that her brothers had done - she could no longer walk and was continuously trembling. Ariana rushed her to Firehouse Animal Health Center where euthanasia was discussed, but ultimately it was decided to give Irina a bit more time and to try a regime of Clindamycin for suspected toxoplasmosis.

Miraculously, she bounced back! She was soon eating well and gaining weight, although it took her longer to be able to walk again, and even longer for the constant trembling to stop.

She ended up being adopted by Ariana and is loving life as the little sister to Chomper, Perseus, Beowulf and Niko.

Her total cost was $195.54.
